“No,”…I Don’t Use “Fat-Burners,” etc…

People often ask me if I use “fat-burners.”

In fact, a great many in the fitness community contact me with the assumption that I use them, simply as a matter of course, as if they’re a built-in part of what I do to look the way I do.

I most definitely do NOT use any of those kinds of supplements, and would not use them.

The answer as to “why” is easy…

They provide only temporary results, are often filled with things I would never put in my body to begin with, and therefore defeat the whole point of what I promote and why.

I’m not saying that some supplements aren’t beneficial, perhaps on an on-going basis, for certain types of people’s needs.

Not at all.

I use a bunch of different supplements myself.

But the difference is, the supplements I use are designed to be health-enhancing first and foremost, over simply taking something akin to a drug, to produce short-term results that do not enhance my overall health, and may in fact work against my metabolism, endocrine function, or blood sugar levels.

Once a person starts to get older, perhaps closer to middle age, certain supplements can and do assist with fat and weight loss efforts.  But the only ones I encourage people to experiment with are those that are often close to actual whole-food-type suggestions…ingredients derived from foods…so that the body recognizes them more as an asset to the efforts, as compared to an ingredient that is *forcing* the body to do something that goes against its current grain.

There are things we can try in this regard, and I’ll cover them in my over 40 program which is pending soon as an extension to my FLFL program found at the Home tab above.

By staying with whole food options and naturally derived ingredients, we give our bodies the chance to utilize additional nutrition that can sustain, maintain and enhance the overall system, as compared to using essentially drugs, to force the body to alter itself instead.

I believe this approach affords us much longer-term results, and I like to think I prove that with my online presence over the years.

When Supplements Don’t Help Joint Issues:

If you’re struggling with joint or tendon issues, and you’ve tried vitamin D3, the MSM’s and other joint formulas, and the fish oils and fatty acids, but relief is not being had…it’s time to explore the pathogen issue.

It is suspected that joint issues can have a bacterial, viral, or especially fungal origin, the latter of which I have made a huge focus on in my work because of the results I’ve seen anti-fungal programs have on countless people suffering from various “unknowns” that their doctors can’t or won’t help them with.

You can see my other posts and materials as to why doctors “can’t” or “won’t.”

Theoretically, the problem could boil down to either a nanobacteria (which essentially amounts to what doctors would call a “calcification,” “spur,” etc. issue, or, a fungal, yeast/candida problem) or a fungus issue, also known as a systemic yeast or candida infection that has become localized to the joints and/or other areas.

It is a shame…a disgusting shame…that it has taken this long in our history of supposedly advanced medical technology to acknowledge the idea that fungus could be a core problem in “age-related” aches and pains, among a host of other illnesses, diseases and discomforts.

But more and more, this movement focusing on candida and fungus as a cause is gaining momentum.  Alternative practitioners, and their patients using natural anti-fungal protocols, the technology of which has grown by leaps and bounds in just the past five years, are getting results and relief for all sorts of ailments.

The focus on fungus, and toxins that both contribute to fungus as well as result from fungal infections, is helping people get well.

If you are taking supplements for any kind of joint issues, consider that there may be embedded “bugs” in your joints that with an alteration of diet, and an anti-fungal program, results can begin to be had in as little as a couple days, even from long-standing issues.

I am living proof of this.

After months worth of spreading tendonitis and joint pains, relief came once I hit it from a fungal infection standpoint.

It’s not exactly easy…but it’s not terribly hard either.  The diet changes can be a bit vigorous, but I have found other alternatives as well that help make the transition easier, via a multi-angled attack on the fungus, so that it does not have hardly any opportunity to adapt.

And the good news is, compared to anti-fungal drugs…nature adapts to fungus adapting…and nature provides solutions, as do safe alternative technologies, to managing and even eliminating the condition.

Legalized Drug Dealing.

Just a short 15 years ago, seeing an ad for a pharmaceutical drug on TV was much different than it is today, due to certain regulatory limitations on these companies in their advertising.

In 1997, that all changed, and pharmaceuticals in many forms were then actively advertised on TV due to less restrictions, with the blessings of the FDA, as long as certain guidelines were adhered to.

Most responsible practitioners found this new license to advertise these drugs absolutely appalling.

A whole generation is now growing up with exposure to these drugs on a daily basis, and thinking nothing of it…so much so, that they often believe taking a drug for a specific problem is simply a matter of course, and to heck with any potential side effects.  After all, it’s advertised on TV, so it must be safe, right?

The side effects that are required to be reported are often skimmed by quickly, and via the power of advertising…using all sorts of near-embedded suggestion, neuro linguistic programming, and other forms of active and passive influence on the viewer through visual/imagery content, audio content and sometimes even word trickery, the industry has skyrocketed from approximately 220 million in 1997, to over 2.8 billion in 2002, according to stats found online.

“Skyrocketed” is putting it mildly.  This has become such a booming industry, that it in large part now supports our faultering world-wide economy.  Note how many ads you’ll see on TV relating to prescription and over the counter drugs.  You will see them almost without exception during almost every show there is.

Selling a product that a person will likely become addicted to, causing repeat sales over the course of their lifetime, will tend to support the economy.

But at whose ultimate cost?

And as the side effects are experienced, often other new drugs are put into the addiction to help off-set those symptoms in turn.

I don’t see much difference between what these corporations are doing, and the crack dealer downtown on the side street.

After all, both drugs provide perceived benefits, with some potentially serious side effects.

The difference is that the latter dealer is put in jail for it.

Am I suggesting everyone get off their prescription drugs?

NO…absolutely not.

What I am saying is that pharmaceutical drugs should be a very last resort.  That other options exist that may be healthier.  That their advertisements are *designed* to sell you something…*designed to sell you something*…and that if you’re not conscious of this fact, you may fall victim to it.

I even go so far as to say that in some instances, some of the healthier options that may be in the form of vitamin supplements, may even be in part owned by some sub-corp of a pharmaceutical company.

But, insurance companies don’t cover vitamin supplements, and the mark-ups on pharmaceutical drugs are often much much higher.

No one is really doing too much of anything wrong.  It’s our responsibility to be aware, educate ourselves, be conscious of what’s going on.  After all, the drug ads ARE telling you, that you likely WILL suffer side effects of a huge range of sorts, if you use their product.

They gave you all the Notice they need to legally give you.

Now it’s up to you to make a decision and take responsibility for the results.

To “Live a Little”…Or “Live a LOT.”

I was having a conversation with a friend who feels that my style of eating is too rigorous, or too restrictive for her to have any interest in pursuing it, despite wanting to lose about ten pounds of added fat to her body.

She is on the short side, a mere 4‘11“ or so, wears high heels to compensate, works out in a very similar way to the way I teach people to in my program, and has great overall form, except in one troublesome area…her tummy is a bit tubby.

Just a little bit.

It’s the kind of thing where if she just makes some easy adjusts and substitutions in her diet…then adds just an alternate form of exercise that I’m encouraging her to do…the tummy would trim down with almost 100% certainty.

But she’s stubborn, and does not want to make any changes.

And she thinks that if she just works out harder, that that will be enough.

Her point is “hey…I want to be able to eat what I want to eat…I GOTTA LIVE A LITTLE, YA KNOW?”

(And yes, she practically yelled this point to me).

I simply have a different perspective:

“Yes,” certain foods really do need to be avoided.

But I look at the substitutions I make in my diet as instead offering me a much longer, and higher quality of life, in the long run.

In other words…

Why “live a little,” by plugging crap into my body that does nothing for my health, and contributes to fat and toxins on and in my body…

…When I can “live a Lot” by giving my body something much healthier, and equally fulfilling once it’s given a chance, that enhances my body and overall energy and well-being for the long run instead?

Just my perspective.

Dr. Oz Watchdog: He Gives Out (a little) Poison for Free.

Dr. Oz Gave Out Free Poison Today:

On today’s episode of Dr. Oz, March13, 2012, Dr. Oz gave out to the audience, for free, some supplemental vitamin B-12, from a company who shall remain nameless but who I researched immediately and found that their liquid B12 is indeed the “cyano” variety, derived in part from cyanide.

Again…

My posts on Dr. Oz are not intended to deter you from watching him.  I feel he does have a great deal to offer.

BUT…

I have covered this topic before, whereby he referenced B12 as a fantastic supplement for increasing energy, a water-soluble vitamin that is almost impossible to overdose on, and does seem to help people a great deal with energy issues.  So much so, doctors will often offer an injectable form of B12 to help some of their patients.

But when he gives out free B12…which is obviously also somewhat “endorsed” by him, and surely promoting the company that is offering it…WHY does it have to be of the cyanocobalamin variety, as compared to the METHYL variety which most of us researchers believe is safer and more bio-available to the body?

There’s only so many kinds of B12 to choose from.

It is frustrating that he’d have to choose this one to offer his audience.

The supplement is not likely to kill anyone.  The amount of cyanide in the product is very tiny, but my point is…

WHY add to our already huge daily toxin burden, from SO many other sources, *if we don’t have to*?!?

Love, Happiness, Health and Peace………..Tim

Dr. Oz Watchdog: FacelessFatloss.

I watch Dr. Oz almost every day.  He’s on during my lunch hour, so I make a point to see what it is he’s promoting, and how it correlates…or does not…to what I practice and promote in my life, and to my program participants.

I would say overall that I am a “fan” of the show.  I like the guy, I like and support 80% of what he teaches, while disagreeing strongly with about 20% of it.

The unfortunate part about this 20%, is that it is a crucial 20% that I personally believe is leading people astray, and into the hands of long-term, chronic ill health IF the viewer does not take it upon him/herself to research further what is being taught.

I cover several of these topics on the Maintenance Motions site.

The thing is, I “get” it…I get what he is doing, and likely why.

On today’s episode, mid-March of 2012, he had a guest doctor on discussing artificial sweeteners.

The only thing that the three of us would agree upon, is that they…aspartame, splenda, etc…cause weight gain.

And I cover why this is the case in my program, as I have for years now.

However, I disagree strongly with their notion that aspartame is harmless.

They cited research that proves it is not a neurotoxin, but did not, as I recall, reference the studies that demonstrated this.

And I want to read those studies.

But of perhaps equal importance, is that they did not reference the word “excitotoxin”…which it has also been suggested it is.  And there can be a difference between a neurotoxin and an excitotoxin, despite the fact that they’re both toxins.

And we always, always MUST be vigilant and aware of these kinds of stances; the words they’re using, and how these studies actually read.

What I “get” about this from Dr. Oz’ standpoint is that he’s in “the machine” as I call it; he is a nationally-known figure, a respected internationally-known doctor, and he earns what is likely a tremendous living from what he does.

And I have no problem with him making as much money as he can.

But when one is in the spotlight…what one then promotes seems to, without exception, be “steered” in a direction that best suits vested interests in what is being promoted.

Aspartame, if you look into its origins, is virtually a product of politics, as compared to simply being an artificial sweetener.

That is a topic for another time.

What I can say for now, is that there are alternative researchers, such as Dr. Blaylock and Martini, who have practically devoted their lives to proving that this artificial, lab-made product is something that is not only unfriendly to the body…as any foreign substance likely is…but potentially also extremely destructive to it.

Shall we just ignore their research?

They do not have any product that they promote and make money off of in return, such as an alternative sweetener that would compete with aspartame, although they may have research/books that they sell to outline the effects of this substance.

And again, I have no problem with people making money off their research, in an effort to inform others about potential dangers of a substance that is being widely digested.

Goodness knows that kids are growing up with more and more health and mental issues.  As are adults, in a myriad of forms.

And although aspartame perhaps can’t be directly tied to these problems, the list of reported side effects to the FDA regarding aspartame ingestion is quite long…

…Long enough that I won’t touch the stuff ever again.

(I personally had headaches after ingesting it almost like clockwork, as do many others).

The good news is, Dr. Oz DID promote stevia as an alternative.

I think as long as he doesn’t bash aspartame…which he has every right to do if he just reads the side effects that are public domain…then he can also “play in the machine”…(money, politics)…and promote something with a 30 year track record in Japan (stevia) that is naturally derived from a plant and has no reported side effects.

I tend to believe Dr. Oz is a good person who does want to help people.

BUT…

YOU must be your own authority.

Listen to Dr. Oz about aspartame and stevia…

And also listen to Blaylock and Martini…

…Which sweetener will YOU choose?

Recovering from Cipro Side Effects: Tendonitis, Joint Issues…

I can’t stress strongly enough that in my opinion, antibiotics should basically…*never*…be used.

The one exception is the death bed, when there are no other options.

Antibiotics are simply poisons, and for too large a percentage of people result in either immediate or delayed complications that can impact the quality of that persons life to varying degrees.  The tendon and joint issues that cipro and other AB’s can cause can sometimes not show up for months.

That said, let’s find solutions.

I am about to expand upon theory, based on personal experience with having these issues that may have been related to using AB’s, including Cipro:

It is my contention that the cause of these joint and tendon issues is the result of a systemic fungal infection that has seeped into the joints.  The fact that it can take time to manifest…according to the FDA’s own side effect profile for the drug, the aforementioned “months”…is possible proof that this condition is indicative of a fungal infection that the Cipro helped foster.

Reason being, systemic fungal infections are believed to be epidemic in western society by many alternative thinkers such as myself.  An eastern practitioner I know believes the same.

The reason why we’re not all conscious of this problem is that the time it takes to manifest the damage the fungus is causing can take a great deal of time.  We instead notice only subtle effects…very often, these effects/symptoms are what people call “getting old.”

It may not be about getting old at all.  It could simply be the effect of a long-standing, slow and insidious infection.

My program references the heart cells that were kept alive for decades beyond their lifespan, thanks to keeping the tissue pathogen and toxin-free.

In essence, the tissue did not age.

The healthy gut flora/bacteria that is destroyed by the Cipro will be compensated for as best it can by the internal environment of the gut working hard to re-establish a homeostasis.

During this time, the balance of yeasts may become so unbalanced, and the yeasts may mutate into their pathogen state via the common western diet feeding this slowly developing condition, and slowly but surely the fungus breaches the gut barrier and finds its way into a new home…such as the joints being a common stop-off point.

It has been my experience that if I approach the problem as a systemic fungal issue…that relief comes.

This is yet another reason, in a long string of reasons, why my program focuses so much on the fungal issue in western society; it is both a fat-weight concern, as well as a health issue first and foremost.

How to Get Rid of “Man Boobs”

Every so often a man will contact me about the development of “man boobs” and his frustration with attempting to eliminate them.

There is a nearly direct cause for this condition, and the good news is, it can be reversed.

A man dealing with this will almost without exception have excess belly fat.  There is a direct relationship between excess belly fat and estrogen in the body, and due to the proximity of the belly to the chest area, the effects of an imbalance of estrogen in the body can manifest itself in the chest region as the “man boob” phenomena.

Unfortunately we live in a world that is plagued with estrogen-mimicking substances all around us.  We therefore not only need to be on a proper diet and exercise program to help reduce the effect of excess carbs and calories impacting our mid-section and body fat levels, but also a life-long detoxification, which you all know I stress so strongly in everything I do, to help compensate for this over-exposure and to help reduce the effects caused by this exposure.

Exposure to plastics, excessive soy (especially non-fermented), “xenoestrogens” found in soaps and other common household products, all contribute to this effect.

As always, greens, green smoothies, etc are an excellent way to help detoxify and cleanse the system to help remove or mitigate our exposure to these estrogen-producing scenarios, as is weight resistance exercise, which is proven to increase testosterone production in men.  Along with both of these, adequate daily spring water helps move detoxification along and assists with protein metabolism that is needed in our weight training efforts.

This is not a condition anyone has to be stuck with.  It’s simply a matter of understanding its likely origin, and taking the proper counter measures within a new lifestyle to combat and resolve the issue.

Western Medicine Vs. Alternative Medicine: The Great Divide.

There is a sharp schism that has been forming between the orthodox western medicine, and that of the more alternative approaches.

People are taking sides.

And they are taking these sides with vigor, as if it was a two-party political debate.

Which…in a sense…it has become.

I stay very open-minded to all that western medicine has to offer.  And if I’m ever in need of emergency care, it’s good to know there are trained pros nearby who can help with any injury I may have due to an accident, God forbid, or whatnot.

However, I do not have a lot of use for western medicine outside of that need.  And this is based on my own personal experience of placing my trust in western medicine, only to find everything that they had to offer made me sicker and sicker, instead of helping me, which I always thought was the point of medicine.

But I…we…may have been wrong on that account.  Once money is factored in, a new picture too often seems to point in another direction.

After all, if doctors have no sick people to tend to, how will they make their living?

And of course, the other side of the coin: Aren’t alternative practitioners selling loads of supplements to their customers as well?

We live in a monetary world.  A system that requires the exchange of money in order to survive.

But the difference between the two options above seems to boil down to:

Pharmaceuticals with long side effect profiles that make manage a symptom, but not cure the underlying cause, and…

Supplements with much shorter side effect profiles, some to many with no side effects at all, enhancing the underlying health and possibly resolving the cause, as compared to simply treating the symptom.

Both may require on-going use of the pharmaceutical or supplement.  But the difference is the severity of the dangers of one over the other, and the benefits derived from one over the other in the long run.

For those victimized by the system of western medicine the divide tends to show up as something similar to this outline (please keep in mind this is just a generalization based on what I’ve witnessed, and there ARE variations…the outline is here ONLY to illustrate a GENERAL point):

Western Medicine Supporters are people who tend to:

-Make a living in some part of the health industry

-Work in government or public positions

-Believe in the overall monetary/debt system, and derive benefits from it that keep them comfortable

-Have never had a serious health issue that required medical intervention and pharmaceuticals, or, were one of the percentage who did not suffer any *visible* discernible side-effects

-Participate and believe in the two-party political system, and have strong opinions either left or right.

-Are generally not open to alternative ideas or theory that takes them outside of what they’ve been educated or brought up with

-Believe in and support the government in its current state, regardless of its obvious problems, rarely questioning the status quo

On the other end, alternative medicine supporters are people who:

-Have been victimized by the system, their doctors, by the drugs they prescribed and suffered side effects from

-Are not employed in the health care industry nor government

-Are extremely open minded about new approaches to resolving symptoms, focusing on resolution of the problem itself, as compared to treating its symptoms and understand the difference

-Are often against the current debt system that seems to be benefiting the few far more than the majority

-Are open to considering alternative approaches to good, honest government, and recognize the two-party system is not working due to vested lobby interests and limitation

-Often question new legislation that may negatively impact them or their families, and question the integrity of the people who construct the bills that restrict their ability to move forward and thrive in life

-Are often struggling financially, having not been able to enjoy the benefits of wealth and the health that often accompanies it

-Have been victimized by some part of the system via laws or procedures that caused stress, were contrary to common sense and consensus decency, and cost them either time, energy or money to fight or lay victim to

The above is only a very general outline that of course is not clear-cut, and is by no means intended to offend anyone with the categories listed.  It is simply my personal experience and observation, having seen and interacted with so many people, most of whom have suffered at the hands of “the way of things,” and chose to challenge the situation as per their best ability.  At the time of this writing, I was presented with this very scenario once again, demonstrating for me first-hand how entrenched the former category is, and therefore needing to comment on it via this post.

I’d like to simply see more open-mindedness in the former category.  And I do not want to see all of the latter category abandon western medical thought, because there ARE some great great people participating in it, who absolutely intend the very best.  I know some of these people first hand.

But the vast majority of the time, this polarization maintains itself.  And for as long as it does, humanity as a whole will have a struggle moving forward and achieving higher states of health and well-being.

Love, Happiness, Health and Peace……………..Tim
