People often ask me if I use “fat-burners.”
In fact, a great many in the fitness community contact me with the assumption that I use them, simply as a matter of course, as if they’re a built-in part of what I do to look the way I do.
I most definitely do NOT use any of those kinds of supplements, and would not use them.
The answer as to “why” is easy…
They provide only temporary results, are often filled with things I would never put in my body to begin with, and therefore defeat the whole point of what I promote and why.
I’m not saying that some supplements aren’t beneficial, perhaps on an on-going basis, for certain types of people’s needs.
Not at all.
I use a bunch of different supplements myself.
But the difference is, the supplements I use are designed to be health-enhancing first and foremost, over simply taking something akin to a drug, to produce short-term results that do not enhance my overall health, and may in fact work against my metabolism, endocrine function, or blood sugar levels.
Once a person starts to get older, perhaps closer to middle age, certain supplements can and do assist with fat and weight loss efforts. But the only ones I encourage people to experiment with are those that are often close to actual whole-food-type suggestions…ingredients derived from foods…so that the body recognizes them more as an asset to the efforts, as compared to an ingredient that is *forcing* the body to do something that goes against its current grain.
There are things we can try in this regard, and I’ll cover them in my over 40 program which is pending soon as an extension to my FLFL program found at the Home tab above.
By staying with whole food options and naturally derived ingredients, we give our bodies the chance to utilize additional nutrition that can sustain, maintain and enhance the overall system, as compared to using essentially drugs, to force the body to alter itself instead.
I believe this approach affords us much longer-term results, and I like to think I prove that with my online presence over the years.
